New Launch of Beats Solo Buds 4
Beats just introduced the Solo 4, the newest model in their extensive lineup of wireless on-ear headphones. At $199.99, the most recent model has a battery life of up to 50 hours. Undoubtedly, their lack of active noise cancellation—a feature included in many rival products at the same price point—helps with their endurance. However, Beats claims that owners of the Beats Solo Buds 4 will enjoy many more upgrades.
Features of Beats Solo Buds 4 and Headphones
To start, they provide wired audio over the 3.5mm connector and USB-C. Additionally, these headphones include passive tuning, which means that even in the event of a dead battery, they will continue to play music without sacrificing quality. The Solo 4’s unique acoustic construction is being praised by Beats as well. Additionally, these headphones offer native software features on both iOS and Android, similar as the Beats Studio Pro headphones that were released last year.
The earbuds themselves have an 18-hour battery life; beyond that, you’ll need to recharge them via USB-C. This is another compromise at this price range. The case itself doesn’t offer any battery recharges. They are available in four colors: gray, black, purple, and a very stylish red with a translucent cover similar to the Studio Buds Plus. Since its release, the Beats wireless earbud portfolio has taken on the following form:
- Beats Fit Pro
- Powerbeats Pro—yes, they are still in existence—
- Beats Solo Buds
- Beats Studio Buds
Beats Solo Buds 4 VS. iPhone Solo Buds
There is more new Beats gear out today than the Solo 4. The Apple-owned company is also launching the Solo Buds, which are now its entry-level wireless earphones and retail for $79.99. According to the company’s press release, they provide “big Beats sound in the smallest case we’ve ever made.” Although Beats claims the Solo Buds offer a significant amount of noise isolation to assist attenuate ambient noise, there is no ANC to be found here (presumably, a Beats device must have “Pro” in its name for that).
Summary
Beats Solo Buds 4 will be available sometime in June. I think these will do really well because they are Beats’ first truly wireless earphones that come in under $100. Overall, the season appears to be active for the brand. The new hardware releases might not be finished just yet, since LeBron James was seen earlier this month sporting an unannounced Beats speaker of some kind. Considering that Apple is expected to unveil new AirPods this fall, it makes logical for the company to dedicate Beats its own time over the spring and summer.
